In late 2021, Yma was commissioned by the All Wales Therapeutics and Toxicology Centre (AWTTC) to undertake a discovery project looking at the engagement with their prescribing resources in general practice. We built up a focus group of professionals working in primary care, including cluster leads, GPs, GP trainees and pharmacy colleagues. We also ran a Wales-wide survey of GPs on their use of prescribing guidelines.
Through our conversations, we developed an understanding of the pressures on clinicians during an appointment, and their interactions with guidance resources. We heard how important accessibility and ease of use is, and the wide diversity of professions who make use of these types of resources. Using all the information we gathered, we developed a series of recommendations to help the AWTTC ensure their work made the highest impact.
We would like to thank everyone who completed the survey, or spoke to us during this project. We have learnt a great deal about the pressures on clinicians in a typical appointment and appreciate you taking the time to help us on this project.
